Dr. Madhavan, a distinguished interventional cardiologist with 23 years of experience, is the Managing Director of Interventional Cardiology at his own institution, “DR MADHAVAN’S HEART CENTRE.” He has significantly advanced the field of interventional cardiology and was instrumental in setting up the cardiac catheter lab at Apollo Hospitals in Madurai, South India. Initially serving a population of over 20 million, the lab has completed more than 20,000 invasive procedures under Dr. Madhavan’s guidance.
Dr. Madhavan specializes in intravascular imaging and rotational atherectomy, which he employs to tackle complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) cases. His remarkable skills and expertise have garnered global recognition. He had the honor of collaborating with esteemed cardiologist and Nobel laureate Dr. Bernard Lown on a research project in Boston. Their study, MAPCHES, examined the health of 1,500 physicians and was presented at the World Congress of Cardiology in Buenos Aires on May 21, 2008, later published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology in May 2009 (volume 25, issue 5, pages 303-308). Dr. Madhavan’s primary mission is that “NO ONE SHOULD DIE OF A PREVENTABLE DISEASE.” His passion and steadfast commitment to saving lives have earned him high regard in the medical field.
